Our Story

The Ratchet Belt design originated in Asia during the early 1900’s.  In 1998, while living in South Korea, Chuck Martin, an American saw a man selling a different style belt on a subway train.  This man was selling a style of belt that Chuck had never seen before that was unique and completely adjustable. Chuck bought a belt to try for himself.  He liked it so well that he decided to redesign the belt into something of better quality to be used in the United States.  He sought advice from a retired Marine in Korea, who was his friend and interpreter.  He called it the Ratchet Belt because of its similar function to a ratchet that can be adjusted.

As a retired Navy serviceman, Chuck had a particular desire to offer his newly designed belt to the U.S. Military branches of service.  From that point on, the Ratchet Belt was sold on military bases, especially popular with the Marine Corps community.  The Ratchet Belt became a product that military people both used and appreciated.

The Ratchet Belt has since begun to branch out in popularity.  It is now sought after by people searching for an easy-to-use belt that is both stylish, and made with high quality materials.  The Ratchet Belt is sold on military bases, independent stores and golf courses throughout the United States, overseas and Hawaii.  It is now available internationally through the internet.
